Roberta Gellis opened her very intriguing series of 'Roselynde' novels with this one, 'Roselynde.' It is a very interesting, but steamy and never preachy, series by a historian which is set in the medieval era - starting in the early s when King Henry II and Queen Eleanor ruled. Like all the The Roslynde Chronicles and all her other books, Roberta Gellis scores a home run with Desiree. In my opinion, Roberta Gellis' style of writing is superb. Especially her historical fiction. Without a doubt, she is the best historical fiction writer. It is fantastic how she weaves her story and characters through actual historical events. 'Joanna' is the third volume in Robert Gellis's beloved 'The Roselynde Chronicles.' The series was recently released in ebook format so I am enjoying the chance to revisit some old favorites. (See my Goodreads reviews of 'Alinor' and 'Gilliane.') 'Joanna' is problematic for me.
